Nice spin on it. I too expected their children to be waiting when the rest of the ship woke up, but then that would have meant knowingly bringing children into that ship where they’d only have a few scant years left by the time they reached the planet. Then again, life on the ship is all the children would have known, so maybe it wouldn’t have been too bad. Certainly lots to ponder!

Not a storyline you expect in a big budget scifi these days. We enjoyed the performances of Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Sheen. The optics were great – loved the swimming bubble – and the humour was well placed, I thought. I agree with you about the ending. Here’s my take – and since the movie is no longer on general release, I feel sure no one else will read this but you – to me it was an ‘Adam and Eve’ story and I thought it might have taken us in that direction, that is, they could have had children and grandchildren who would have met the new arrivals when they reached the new planet. By the way, I’m not a creationist, in case you’re concerned! The Bible is just a collection of stories by which one can teach future generations the meaning of life. I also left the theatre wondering why they didn’t wake up a few more people, but then I realised that would probably have led to more conflict – and who would want to share Jennifer Lawrence anyway! By the way, as you may guess, I have a bit of time in my hands now, haha! All the best..
