Doctor Strange

After a bunch of generic, cookie-cutter films though, it’s refreshing to see Marvel put out such a strong story with a unique identity.

Suicide Squad

It begins with possibly the worst first 15 minutes of any blockbuster in recent memory.

Captain America: Civil War

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Like a rollercoaster ride that’s kinda fun but also that little bit too scary, Batman v Superman is woefully uneven.

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Age of Ultron features so many damn cameos from peripheral Marvel characters that even someone as knowledgeable as myself had trouble keeping up with all the faces that breezed by.

Big Hero 6

There’s a lot about Big Hero 6 that is stock-standard, and the boy-and-his-robot tale has echoes of Short Circuit and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Clichés abound, and whilst this may be based on a Marvel comic, there’s a lot that’s been Disney-fied.

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For

If you’re a fan of the first film, or indeed of the comics, I’m not sure how you could find fault with A Dame to Kill For. It feels like more Sin City, basically.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I didn’t actually mind the movie so much when I was watching it, but found myself getting angrier and angrier the more I thought about it afterwards, until…well, here we are, all grumpy, thumping away at the keyboard.
