Worst sequels

Stuart - A good indication of a bad sequel is one that attempts to subvert the statements and progress made in the original - here are the most diluted, tangled and pathetic series of sequels that do their best to destroy the original:

Highlander II: The Quickening

a science fiction update - and rip-off of many movies including Blade Runner and Dune - which very quickly repeals the statements made at the end of the first film and also introduces aliens

Highlander 3: The Sorcerer

a remake of the first film, which also repeals the statements made at the end of the original, but conveniently forgets the alien subplot of the second

Highlander: Endgame

which also features the tv Highlander star - having never seen the show I have no idea how he fits into the grand scheme of the film series - and which actually seems to suggest that the second sequel, The Quickening, never happened

Predator 2

if you're going to state that the film is set in the future, make it more than 6 years into the future...

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

Freddie Prinze Jr. as an action hero... hmmm

Tremors 2

the monsters were so cool in the first, why change them?

Scream 3

Kevin Williamson rocks... you suck

The Matrix Revolutions

action movies need good action scenes, especially when the first two set the bar so high

Final Destination 2

the original ending for Final Destination was deep sixed by test audiences because it was so crap...so why use it in the sequel???

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

this isn't so much a bad sequel as a crap film. The first one was pretty average anyway so it's not really that much of a disappointment...
