Don’t get me wrong, I really liked Sound Of My Voice and as I was saying I really admire the standard of filmmaking here.

Yeah it’s a great film overall and the ending isn’t bad. I’ve seen worse endings that sort of let the film down after a great lead up.

I know it isn’t their style but I kind of wish they’d do a sequel to this and maaaaaaaaye answer some of the questions they’ve raised in this film.

You are correct – my point was that the filmmakers in Sound Of My Voice are not like the director I’m hinting at, that’s right. There was just enough information that was revealed throughout the film from the director I hinted at, that gave viewers a whole rich world of information from which to speculate, debate, philosophise, and argue to their hearts’ content.

Sound Of My Voice gave very very little in the ‘meat’ of the film from which to discuss or speculate the ending.

I was reading movie trivia for Sound Of My Voice and the filmmakers said that they left a couple of clues in the film but I think I must’ve missed them or the clues could’ve been too wide open.

I didn’t think it was too much like the director you’re hinting at. After quite a meditative pace throughout, the sudden ending to the film works well for me.

Music and soundtrack scores in low budget films often run the risk of sounding cheap, cheesy, and distracting.

However, the music in this film was surprisingly very well done. Besides the storytelling, the acting and directing, the music was a bona fide MVP in creating an atmosphere and mood that effectively brought the viewers into the film and the characters. It hit all the right spots at the right times. Big credit to Rostam Batmanglij.

Not too sure about the ending though. Without revealing too much, there is a highly acclaimed director-auteur who does a brilliant job with these types of endings. Sound Of My Voice falls just a tiny bit short of that standard IMHO. Still, not too bad at all. I can sort of live with it. I was reading elsewhere that Brit and Zal really, really wanted it that way. Gotta respect the commitment to their work.
