Haha, sorry to hear that!

I don’t have many musicals in my favourite movies list. In fact, Kiss Me Kate is probably the only one that makes the grade – make of that what you will!

But the pushback on this film has been interesting. One of those movies that the critics love but cinemagoers are terribly disappointed with. It’s kind of the inverse Transformers in that way 🙂

Well, Stuart, I guess we’ll just have to disagree! You fail to mention the total lack of chemistry between the leads, although you did mention their singing and dancing ability or lack thereof. I was completely bored, the songs were eminently forgettable and unworthy. Can you mention one tune you left the cinema humming? Trying to emulate the golden age of musicals is commendable – if you go back and look at That’s Entertainment you’ll know what I mean – but this is dire. It was 30 minutes in before you found out her name was Mia! The story was non-existent. The basic recipe for this film is missing. Even I am too young for movies such as Showboat or South Pacific, but more recent than those this film is not in the same league as Sound of Music, My Fair Lady or even Finian’s Rainbow. What P’s me off most of all, apart from never getting that 2 hours of my life back after watching it yesterday – is that this effort could get an oscar!! I’m Speechless!!!
