Berlin '36 posterBerlin '36

Karoline Herfurth is stunning in the lead role. This was a young woman who was so alone yet felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. Understandably, she is conflicted - should she go for gold to show up the regime, or should she refuse to represent her country which she so despises?

Men in the City posterMen in the City (Männerherzen)

It can be hypocritical when filmmakers bemoan the emotional immaturity of their male characters, when they have chosen not to tell the story of the poor bastards who have grown up and settled down, presumably because they feel the best drama or comedy is found in the lives of those who haven't.

Vision posterVision (Vision - Aus dem Leben der Hildegard von Bingen)

Vision is somewhat of a quiet achiever. The cinematography is great, for the most part, though several times we're subjected to horrid ultra-vast zooms, which seem entirely out of place in a film such as this - they're distracting and tacky.
